Beach Academy

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new  Beach Academy program at NYC Volleyball Academy. This program is open to Advanced level rising 9th - 12th-grade athletes (boys and girls).

Our Beach Academy is ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their skills during the summer and prepare for Club Travel Volleyball Programs in the fall. However, it's important to note that this program is unsuitable for beginners or recreational players.

Under the guidance of Coach Mike Salak and our Program Coaches, VBA Beach Academy adheres to the principles of FIVB Beach Volleyball techniques. All sessions will include skills-based training, individual drills, and team-based competitions to create an enjoyable and competitive atmosphere while improving player skills.

Our Beach Academy Sessions will be held at the Pier 6 Sand Courts at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

We look forward to you joining us at NYC Volleyball Academy's Beach Academy program.

Meet our Lead Coach: Mike Salak

Coach Mike Salak has established himself as a top beach volleyball player on the East Coast for over two decades, having participated in the AVP Main Draw.

In addition to his successful beach volleyball career, Salak played professional indoor volleyball in Europe and competed on the OPEN level at all the major volleyball tournaments in the country.

Following his playing career, he transitioned to coaching, where he has accrued 25 years of coaching experience at all levels of the sport.

Why Beach Volleyball ?

  • NEW CHALLENGE: Beach volleyball requires a different set of skills  from indoor VB -  including battling the element of wind, sun, and sand to make it more challenging and exciting.

  • COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS:  Beach volleyball scholarships are available to  athletes looking to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level.

  • WELL ROUNDED SKILLS: Beach volleyball requires players to be well-rounded and able to perform all aspects of the game.

  • PHYSICAL CONDITIONING: Playing in the sand can improve players' speed, agility, and vertical jump. The resistance offered by the sand can help players develop more explosive movements and improve their overall fitness level.
